This is a model of an injection molding factory.

A factory is a collection of machines used to make a product of some kind.

In my factory the principal piece of equipment is a  mold  press.  Its function is to heat up and liquify granulated plastic and inject it into a mold.

Here is what you observe when it is running:

The screw rotates and the barrel heaters and mold heaters cycle on and off  to keep the plastic in liquid condition.
The press closes the mold-set, plastic is injected  and the mold opens for part ejection.
The motorized valve runs at different speeds and in different directions to cause the press to open and close at appropriate speeds.
The air compressor cycles on and off to replenish compressed air in the tank as it is depleted.

Don't forget... this is a model... that operates on 12 AA batteries.  Everything works, sort of.  But don't expect any plastic to melt and if you want to see the parts being ejected you will have to look very very closely!  Read on...
